Organising your trip to the Azores archipelago is no small task. Indeed, when it comes to organisation, there are many details to think about, and when you lead a life at a hundred miles an hour, it’s not always easy.

To ease your load, Travel to the Azores organises a dream personalised travel programme for you, based on your availability, your budget and within the framework of 100% healthy and sustainable tourism. We take care of everything, from your arrival to your departure: negotiation and booking of the services for your stay (car rental, accommodation, activities, dining), creation of tailor-made, local discovery itineraries, and, thanks to our precise knowledge of the “terrain”, we handle all the small details of pure organisation so that you have nothing to think about (e.g.: the nearest free parking to your hotel, the most logical itinerary taking into account the opening days and hours of the various places or establishments but also the real distances between the islands, hikes suited to very young children or to people who struggle to walk for long…).

The only thing left to you? Getting to us! And if you’re not seasoned sailors ready to take to the sea from the Atlantic coast to sail to this paradise archipelago, you’ll have to arrive by air.

1 – The travel options to the Azores: direct or with a stopover?

The Azores are attracting more and more travellers and, over the past few months, new routes have opened up to allow travellers from the European and American continents to reach the archipelago more quickly and more easily.

From France in particular, the airlines Transavia, Air France (France’s flag carrier), TAP Portugal (Portugal’s flag carrier) and SATA Azores Airlines (the Azores’ flag carrier) operate direct flights from Paris to the Azores. From Belgium, it’s JetairFly.

Nevertheless, these direct flights don’t run all year round and the choice of dates is not yet very extensive. In the vast majority of cases, you have to make a stopover in Lisbon or Porto to reach the islands.

And good to know: not all the islands of the archipelago (there are 9) accommodate national or international flights (they only handle inter-island flights). Only the islands of Pico, Faial, Terceira and, of course, the main island São Miguel allow them.

2 – The best flight comparison tool

This is in no way sponsored, we just want to share a good tip with you: the “flights” tab on the Google search engine is the simplest and most economical tool for comparing existing flights. To bring it up, nothing could be easier: type the word “flight” and press “enter”. The “flights” tab will appear next to the other tabs.

It offers you the option of booking either directly on the airlines’ websites or on the price-comparison sites if these are more attractive. Happy searching!

And since flying isn’t really great for the environment, to travel as eco-responsibly as possible, here are all our tips: our eco-responsible guide.
